Houston Menus lists Houston restaurants and links straight to their menus. These are the rules of the road.
Some menus are hosted on Houston Menus, added by the restaurant or uploaded by diners and checked by us. The rest link to the restaurant's own page, or wherever they publish their menu. Either way, the menu belongs to the restaurant. We check links every night and watch for menus that change, but menus can change faster than we can catch them. Prices and dishes may differ from what you see here, and the restaurant always has the final word.
If a link is wrong or a menu looks out of date, tell us from the listing page. That's the fastest way it gets fixed. Restaurant owners can take over their listing and keep their own menu current.
Details like price levels, spice levels and whether a place is cash only come from menus, from restaurants and from people who eat there. We check them before they go up, but they can still go out of date. A listing here isn't an endorsement. Listings are free for local restaurants, and anything paid is marked as sponsored.
When you submit a restaurant, a photo or a note, you are giving us permission to publish it on this site, to edit it for length, clarity or accuracy, and to keep it here. You keep ownership of your own photo. We are not claiming it, and we are not selling it or licensing it to anyone else.
Two things we need you to be straight about:
Everything is read by a person before it appears, and anything that is not a fit is rejected. We can also remove something later. Ask us to take down something you sent and it comes down.
Get in touch and we will fix what is wrong. A listing exists to send people to your menu, so if it is inaccurate we want to know. If you would rather not be listed at all, say so and we will remove you.
Paying in the shop books your space and starts the work. Buying means you agree to this section. It is a handshake in plain words.
What you get. Each one is a single purchase for one restaurant.
Paid placements run on Houston Menus only. We cannot promise views, clicks or sales.
Who can buy. You run the restaurant, or you are allowed to act for it. A purchase stays with the restaurant it was bought for.
Pay in advance. You pay in full, up front, on Square's secure page. Prices are before tax, and Texas sales tax is added at checkout. We never see your card. Nothing renews by itself. Every purchase is one time, and you buy again if you want more.
Booking a spot. Space is limited. Top 3 and Neighborhood Top 3 spots are held for a few minutes while you pay, and are yours once the payment goes through. Spotlight is one deal at a time. If a spot is gone by the time you pay, you are refunded in full.
All sales are final. We do not refund because a purchase did not bring views, clicks or sales. Two things we do refund: if we cannot deliver what you bought, and if you bought the wrong thing and tell us before it goes live.
What you send us. Deal text, photos, logos and menus must be yours to send. Do not send someone else's work, and do not promote another business. You give us permission to show it on Houston Menus while your purchase runs, and to make small edits for length, spelling or fit. You keep ownership of what you send.
We approve everything first. Every Spotlight deal, and every change to one, is read by a person before it goes live, usually within a day. We can reject or take down anything that does not follow the guidelines, that promotes another business, or that does not fit. If we reject something, we tell you why so you can fix it.
How long it runs. Spotlight runs for one month, starting the day your first deal is approved. Top 3 and Neighborhood Top 3 run for 30 days, starting when you pay.
Days you do not get back. If a deal is rejected or taken down because it did not follow the guidelines, for example a wrong link or a promotion for another business, the days it was not showing are not added back. If you stop early, or your restaurant closes, the days left are not refunded.
Days we owe you. If we are slow to review, pause your spot, or the site is down for a stretch, we add the days back to your run.
Print-ready menus. You see and approve a proof before you pay for the file. Two rounds of minor changes are included. Anything bigger, like more than one column or a layout of your own, is a custom job. We agree the price with you before you pay.
Full service setup. After you pay, you send us your menu and any photos. We build your listing from what you send. If something is missing or unreadable, we ask you for it.
Our limit. What we owe you for any purchase is capped at what you paid for it.
Changes. Prices and this section can change. A change applies to purchases made after it, never to one you already paid for. The date at the top moves when it does.
Who owns what. All trademarks, logos, brand assets and photography shown on this site belong to their respective owners and rights holders. Unless noted otherwise, photos are used only to identify, review and promote the businesses listed here.
No affiliation. Listing a business, or showing its publicly available promotional images, does not mean it sponsors, endorses or partners with Houston Menus, unless we say so.
Credit. We try to credit photos to their original source, such as the restaurant's own website, its official social media, or the person who took the picture.
Removal requests. We respect the rights of business owners, photographers and creators. If you hold the rights to an image, or act for someone who does, and want it updated, replaced or removed, email info@houstonmenus.com with:
When we see your request, the image comes down.
Browse it, share it, tell your friends. Do not scrape it wholesale, republish the database, or use it to build a competing site. Do not attempt to break it.
The site is provided as it is. We cannot promise it is always accurate, always available, or always up to date, and we are not responsible for a disappointing meal, a closed restaurant or a menu that changed.
The short version: we collect what you type into a form, a light account if you choose to sign in, and basic traffic numbers. No passwords, no ad tracking, nothing sold.
Only what you choose to send us:
Signing in is optional and there is no password to create or forget. Give us your email and we send a one-time link; clicking it signs you in. That's the whole account, and it exists to keep track of what you've contributed, not to sell anything or watch what you browse.
Once signed in you're shown as a short handle like HouMen0013. Your email is never shown. Your name only appears if you write it in a note yourself. Signing in also attaches any note or photo you'd already sent under that same email, so contributions you made before signing in still end up credited to you.
We use simple, aggregate analytics to see how many people visit and which pages get used, so we know the site is working and where to spend effort. It tells us traffic patterns, not who you are: we don't build advertising profiles, we don't sell or share this data, and it's never used to target you with ads anywhere.
Photos taken on a phone often carry hidden information, including where the photo was taken. Every upload is re-encoded when it arrives, which discards that. What we keep is the picture, nothing attached to it.
Photos may also be cropped or adjusted for lighting before they go up.
Loading a web page means asking other servers for things, and those servers can see your IP address because that is how the internet works. On this site that is the map tiles, the fonts, an analytics script, and one script library. None of them are told anything about you beyond the request itself. Our web host also keeps standard server logs, as every host does.
The forms carry one more: Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a submission is coming from a person rather than a bot. We chose it because it does not profile you or follow you around the web, unlike the more common alternatives. It looks at how the browser behaves for a moment and answers yes or no. Most people never see anything at all.
Signing in sets one cookie so the site remembers you're signed in. Our analytics also sets cookies so it can tell one visit from the next, and they only count traffic. Submitting a form that lets you fix something afterward, like a bad menu link, sets a short one that expires when you close your browser. Neither is used to track you elsewhere, and both go away if you sign out or clear your browser.
Nothing appears on the site until a person has read it. Submissions, photos and notes all sit in a queue until they are approved, and anything that is not a fit is rejected rather than published.
If you're signed in, your account page lets you delete your own notes and photos yourself, no explanation needed. Otherwise, email us and it comes down. If you gave us an email address and want that forgotten too, say so and it is deleted.
If what we collect ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
Anything at all, on either half of this page, goes to our contact page.
